Anti-Racist Training, Advocacy, and Systemic Change.
To combat the documented instances of racism and bias in child welfare services, Amani Haven will deliver anti-racist training to social workers, foster carers, and other stakeholders. This training will go beyond cultural awareness to actively challenge systemic racism and promote equity. Through public campaigns and collaboration with community organisations, we will advocate for policy changes that dismantle the institutional barriers faced by Black and ethnically diverse families in Scotland. -
Culturaly Compentant Care.

Inspired by report's findings, Amani Haven will provide culturally competent care that addresses the systemic issues of racism and bias in Scotland’s child welfare system. Our staff will undergo comprehensive training in anti-racism, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-informed care. This pillar is rooted in understanding the specific cultural needs of Black and Brown children, ensuring that their cultural practices, values, and identities are respected and integrated into their daily lives. -
Care Hub.
The Black and Brown Foster Care Hub (Safe Space).
In line with the report’s recommendation for community partnerships and generate more Black and Brown Foster carers, Amani Haven will create a Black and Brown Foster Care Hub, serving as a safe space and support network for foster carers and children. This hub will provide resources tailored to the cultural and emotional needs of Black and Brown youth, offering mentorship, cultural activities, and spaces for dialogue. It will foster a sense of belonging and community, helping children maintain their cultural identity while receiving the care and support they need.
